1月28日 Martha Hands,Mary HeartLord of all the pots and pans and things, since I've no time to be
A saint by doing lovely things,or watching late with Thee,
Or dreaming in the dawn-light,or storming Heaven's gates,
Make me a saint by getting meals and washing up the plates.
Although I must have Martha's hands, I have a Mary mind,
And when I black the boots and shoes,Thy sandals, Lord, I find.
I think of how they trod the earth, what time I scrub the floor:
Accept this meditation, Lord, I haven't time for more.
Warm all the kitchen with Thy love, and light it with Thy peace;
Forgive me all my worrying, and make my grumbling cease.
Thou who didst love to give men food,in room or by the sea,
Accept this service that I do-I do it unto Thee.
Cecily Rosmary Hallack (1898-1938)

Tanna 1月26日 lack of craftI know so many ladies who knit, crochet or cross stich... I was never taught( and never thought of learning) how to do these crafty things. I cant scrapbook...everything comes out looking oddly placed, or very square. My sewing? Please, I cant even run my 11yr olds sewing machine! I cant draw a stright line with a ruler...I am not kidding. My husband forbids me to paint because well, I cant. These are skills I wish I could pass on to my girls...I am all thumbs and have always struggled with anything crafty. The very art of ANYTHING art-y is a total mystery to me.
But you know what I would like? A 'mother's craft'. You know, a quiet time "thing" I can do during our down time. Something that wont stress me out because it doesn't look right or bring me to tears because my clumsy fingers get in the way. Any ideas?
Maybe I should just read a book.
Lord, love my flaws and strengths
Tanna 1月22日 HiIts the end of the day here and things are winding down. I like this time of night, theres nothing left to do but be together. We've had dinner, cleaned the kitchen and are just hanging out! Hubby was on day shift this week, so we had a bit of a change in our routine, but it was refreshing.
I gave the kids the day off from school today. Mack started fractions this week and Keagen has been doing long division with fractions...they have been working really hard and needed a break. We are looking at 'all things German' as we study Germany and digging into science of the body. We are staying pretty busy...what are you doing?
PS
Sam...
Our kittens name is Buddy Longfellow. Keagen named him after her fav poet...sort of! 1月19日 our weekend 2Our weekend
I still dont know why the sled was hanging from a rope...
This is what I did...its maple/sage pork done in the crock pot. We had green beans with bacon topped with parm. cheese. We eat a pretty low carb diet so we dont have starches with dinner. Sometimes I'll make rice or rolls for the kids, but hubby and I dont eat them.
This is what our animals did....such a ruff life.
Peace and grace
Tanna 1月12日 WeekendOur weekend....
This was Hubby's job, we only got 5 inches of snow but it was enough for him to get out his yard toys!
This is what the girls did, worked on their projects.......
and this is what I did
I also looked at houses, www.century21.com www.remax.com We currently rent and would like to purchase a new home this spring/summer. There are several good deals, but only 2 I like and could see us living in. I guess I will keep looking. SO that was us this weekend...what did you do?

1月6日 ProblemEvery once in a while I take a step back and look at how I am teaching the girls. I try to see where I need to do better with them. Do I need more hands on projects? Do they need more alone time for work? Am I helping to much, not enough? I did that today and discovered a disturbing habit of mine. My usual process is to assign work, explain it,do the 1st few examples with them and then I leave them alone to do it. Heres the issue, Keagen works much faster then Mack and there are days (like today) Mack is still working when keagen has long finished and is up stairs playing or creating. I wont hear a peep from Mack until I am elbow deep in dishes, laundry or something. I noticed I tend to get annoyed with Mack because she will ask me for help (sometimes several times) and I will have to stop what I am doing to help her. Its not that I mind helping her, I don't mind ,its my job. What bugs me is stopping what ever I was working on. I am one of those people that when I start something, I do it till its done. Interruptions drive me crazy! (part of the reason I shut my phone off for most of the day)
In the past, I just stayed with her the whole time she was working so I was right there if she had a question, but then she got dependant on me rather then trying to work things out on her own first. My household chores also got neglected because she takes such a long time to accomplish her work. I tried a timer thinking I could motivate her to work a little faster, it just reduced her to tears. SO, I got in the habit of assigning work, helping with the first few examples and then walking away. I dont know what to do here....If I hang out and wait for her to get done I'll be there for hours, if I walk away I will constantly be interrupted.
If you have any ideas I would love to hear them!
Thanks
Tanna 1月5日 stuff....Back to school...and I am so glad! I missed it, I think the girls did too. I spent an hour last night getting ready, I had photo copies to make, books to get out, math reviews to do and project boards to prepare! The project boards are for the International Day we are having the 13th with the homeschool group. So far there will be 11 children presenting a country! It will be great fun, I will post pix of the boards as the girls put them together. Right now Mack is working on her math and Keagen is upsatirs doing...something. She hangs out upstairs to give Mack the quiet she needs to focus, she is trying to stay out of Macks way so Mack will get done sooner. Keagen Is chomping at the bit to get outside. Its a nice 35 outside ,great for sledding.
I mean while am going to tackle my bedroom, its a mess and I admit it! After that laundry beckons as do the floors, but now I must go and clean the pellet stove!

1月2日 bouncing...Ok...so now that 2009 is underway, how are we all feeling? Ready to take on what ever comes your way? A new begining can do that for a person, as one friend put it 'feeling like a boxer in the ring...bouncing and pouncing!" I am bouncing and pouncing, determined that circumstances and events will not decide my level of joy. I forgot where my joy came from, it is very clear to me now and it should be as unchanging as its source. My life gets crazy sometimes(who's doesnt?) but I remember where my peace is, and it will be sufficient. I will be leaning more on my rock and less on myself....
So, again, how are YOU feeling?
Oh have a listen while you 'work' http://www.air1.com/
God Bless
Tanna
PS
If you need help bouncing and pouncing... This should help!
